The rebuild of the Mohawks baseball team finally paid dividends in 2015. The boys had a tremendous season with a league record of 9 wins and 3 losses. The Mohawks fell to Vauxhall in the provincial tier 1 final. They also reached the final of the 2015 High School Baseball Tournament held in Medicine Hat. One of the other highlights of the 2015 year was beating the McCoy Colts for the first time in several years.
The 2016 team is now starting their winter weight program and will soon start winter training camp. The seniors on the Mohawks baseball team look forward to pursuing more wins this year while welcoming new recruits to the program. Come out in the spring and watch the Mohawks Baseball team bring baseball to life at Medicine Hat High School once again.
This year the goal is to have a Senior and JV Team at Medicine Hat High School. The goal of the JV Team is to help introduce baseball to students and to provide them with experience for the next year when they would hope to make the senior team. The JV Team will be made primarily of grade nines with the possible addition of some grade eights from Alexandra or Roy Wilson. The JV Team will be included in all of the practices and my goal is to have a total of six games including two intersquads. There will be no cuts made to the JV Team so if someone wants to play, they will always be welcome. However, should a ninth grade student be strong enough to play on the Senior Team, they will be placed on that team.
